he name of our chorus honors Pope Benedict XVI, formerly Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. Cardinal Ratzinger was outspoken in his defense of great sacred music. His brother, Monsignor Georg Ratzinger, is an internationally known choral conductor who has made numerous recordings with very excellent choirs.

Not only is Pope Benedict at the head of a new movement for the restoration of amazing and fantastic sacred music, but he heads the Catholic church at a particular turning point. The Catholic church of today is beginning to reject the rampant liberalism and nonsense of the last thirty-five years, and this new movement is being led mainly by Catholics in their twenties and thirties. It is an exciting time for young Catholics, and Pope Benedict's election has made it more so!

It is not a requirement that everyone who sings in the Pope Benedict singers be a Catholic. However, a long-term goal of ours is to travel to Rome and sing for the Pope.
