Benedicite Gentes • Text from the Fifth Sunday after Easter

Composer — Orlando di Lasso (1532-1594)

Benedicite, gentes, Dominum Deum nostrum,
et obaudite vocem laudis ejus:
qui posuit animam meam ad vitam,
et non dedit commoveri pedes meos:
benedictus Dominus,
qui non amovit deprecationem meam,
et misericordiam suam a me.
Bless the Lord our God, ye Gentiles,
and make the voice of his praise be heard,
who hath set my soul to live,
and hath not suffered my feet to be moved.
Blessed be the Lord,
who hath not turned away my prayer,
nor his mercy from me.
